To use overdubbing tool, first select a foundation track, or record a new voice memo.
Upload or select any stem file (for instance, a looped drum sample), or use the voice memo feature to create a new recording.
Got your file ready? Good. Click into that audio file’s player page and you’ll notice button at the bottom of your phone’s screen labeled “record overdub (beta)”.
Record your overdub.
Next, you’ll be brought to a screen containing your audio waveform, and a “start recording” button. Important: you’ll need a pair of headphones to be able to listen to your foundation track and record on top of it at the same time.
Feel free to tap a specific part of the waveform to start from, or just hit “start recording” and it will default to recording from the beginning of the track.
Save your overdub.
Once you’ve recorded, the app will take you to a screen where you can review the mix. You have the option to start over, or continue by saving the overdub. From there, you'll have a copy of the new stem, as well as a blended mix of the stem and your original foundation track. Feel free to rename these as you see fit!
